The Davis Police Department has announced the arrest of a primary suspect in connection to two recent burglaries and auto thefts.
According to a press release by the Davis Police Department, officers responded to a burglary alarm at a closed business situated near the intersection of F and 5th Streets on June 10. Officers arrived at the scene to find a shattered window, confirming that a break-in had taken place.
Upon reviewing video surveillance footage from the establishment, investigating officers observed a suspect who allegedly fled the area with two scooters. The description of the suspect reportedly matched that of an individual involved in a previous burglary on May 28, 2023, at a business located on the corner of 2nd Street and Cantrill Drive, in which a Honda Civic had been reported stolen.
Later that day, an off-duty Davis PD officer spotted the same individual riding a bicycle on 2nd Street near Cantrill Drive and alerted fellow officers for assistance. The responding officers located the suspect in the Target parking lot. In an alleged attempt to evade arrest, the suspect fled through the shopping center parking lot on his bicycle.
Officers managed to detain the suspect a short distance away and took him into custody without incident. The apprehended individual has been identified as 43-year-old Robert Limley.
Limley was arrested on suspicion of burglary, auto theft, vandalism, and an outstanding felony arrest warrant from Sacramento County.
During a search, law enforcement officers reportedly discovered a Honda key and remote in Limley’s possession.
The stolen Honda vehicle from the initial burglary — described as a 2004 gray Honda Civic with a green hood and license plate number 5JZW614 — remains missing, police said. Additionally, the two stolen scooters, described as a 2023 green and white Liva moped and a yellow Zoom moped, have yet to be recovered.
The Davis Police Department urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen Honda Civic or the scooters to contact them at 530-747-5400.
