One Killed, Several Others Injured in Shooting at Birthday Party in Antioch
Police in Antioch are investigating a shooting that occurred at a birthday party on Sunset Lane in which one person died, multiple others were injured, and multiple suspects are believed to have been involved.
According to a press release by the Antioch Police Department, dispatch received numerous 9-1-1 calls reporting multiple gunshots fired at a residence on the 3300 block of Sunset Lane on the morning of June 11. Responding officers discovered several victims outside the residence, where a birthday party for a 19-year-old male was taking place.
Witnesses alleged that the shots were fired after uninvited guests arrived, sparking concern among other people at the party.
A total of seven individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. One of the victims, an 18-year-old female succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local area hospital, police said.
Among the remaining victims, an 18-year-old male sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound, while two 19-year-old females, one 19-year-old male, and two 20-year-old females also suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Some of the injured individuals sought medical attention at nearby hospitals independently, police said.
The suspects responsible for the shooting managed to flee the scene in a vehicle before the arrival of law enforcement officers. The Antioch Police Department’s Investigations Bureau has taken over the investigation and is actively conducting interviews with numerous witnesses and residents in the area. Their primary objective is to identify any potential suspects or persons-of-interest.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
