San Bernardino County, California – In a determined effort to address the growing concerns over rising crime rates and public safety, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has initiated Operation Consequences. This county-wide operation aims to curb violent crime, disrupt criminal street gangs, and apprehend individuals engaged in illegal firearms possession, manufacturing, and trafficking. Over the course of several months, law enforcement agencies will work collaboratively to ensure the safety and well-being of the communities within San Bernardino County.
Between June 10, 2023, and June 16, 2023, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, joined by deputies from various patrol stations, executed a total of 17 search warrants and engaged suspects at different locations throughout Hesperia, Victorville, San Bernardino, Barstow, and Hemet. As a result of these operations, a significant haul was obtained, including the seizure of 25 firearms, two of which were classified as ghost guns. Additionally, authorities confiscated over sixteen and a half pounds of narcotics, dealing a blow to
illicit drug trade in the region. The concerted efforts of law enforcement personnel led to the arrest of 13 individuals on various felony charges.
Recognizing the urgent need to combat crime and preserve public safety, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has allocated additional funds to bolster law enforcement services. The funds will be channeled towards supporting the Sheriff’s Department in its endeavor to address quality-of-life issues plaguing communities across the county. This financial boost will enable
enhanced crime suppression activities and strengthen the department’s ability to respond effectively to the challenges at hand.
Operation Consequences will concentrate its efforts on targeted crime suppression operations within the High Desert area and the jurisdiction surrounding the city of San Bernardino. It is crucial to note that California currently has a staggering 6,568 parolees at large, with 534 of them located within San Bernardino County alone. To ensure the success of Operation Consequences, a multifaceted approach has been adopted, involving personnel from the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, and Patrol Stations. Furthermore, the collaborative effort will include support from the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
