A man wanted on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter out of Fresno has reportedly been arrested in Oklahoma.
According to a press release by the Fresno Police Department, the agency was notified on Thursday, June 22, that a voluntary manslaughter suspect wanted out of Fresno — identified as Kevin King — had been located and arrested in Garvin County, Oklahoma.
King, 43, has been wanted in connection to the killing of 51-year-old Victor Becerra, who was found suffering from a gunshot wound at his home on the 4100 block of North Blythe Avenue on the afternoon of Monday, January 2. Becerra was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he passed away a short time later.
Investigators reportedly believe that Becerra died as a result of King negligently discharging a firearm and the bullet going through the wall their apartments shared, striking Becerra.
An arrest warrant outlining multiple felony charges — voluntary manslaughter, child endangerment, and weapons offenses — was secured, but King fled the Fresno area immediately after the shooting, police said.
Following his arrest, King remains in custody in Oklahoma pending extradition to Fresno County.
The investigation is still active, and authorities ask that anyone with information relevant to the case reach out to the Fresno Police Department, or specifically to Homicide Detective R. Rockwell at (559) 621-2448 or Detective S. Gray at (559) 621-2451.
