Late on Thursday, just moments before midnight, a routine traffic enforcement stop conducted by a dedicated officer from the Sacramento Police Department (FPD) near the intersection of Riley Street and Scott Street led to the apprehension of a suspect with outstanding warrants and the recovery of a stolen firearm. The incident serves as a poignant reminder that even seemingly ordinary traffic stops can uncover significant criminal activity.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the FPD officer discovered that one of the occupants was currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) Probation for a previous firearm-related charge. Additionally, another occupant was found to have five outstanding warrants for his arrest, further raising suspicions.
To assist in the investigation, the highly trained K9 Astro, specializing in firearm detection, was deployed and promptly alerted to the presence of a weapon within the vehicle. Given the combination of K9 Astro’s alert and the PRCS status of one of the occupants, the officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle.
During the search, officers made a startling discovery—a loaded firearm equipped with an extended magazine. Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen in Stockton, amplifying the gravity of the situation.
Charles McGee, a 29-year-old resident of Sacramento, was promptly taken into custody and subsequently booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail. McGee now faces charges related to his outstanding warrants and multiple felony firearm offenses. The diligent efforts of the FPD officers involved in the operation have led to the swift removal of a dangerous individual from the streets and the recovery of a stolen weapon
