In a late-night incident on July 2, 2023, an Amador County Sheriff’s Office Deputy executed a routine traffic stop on Coal Mine Road, near Reservation Road, resulting in the arrest of a suspect on multiple charges. The passenger initially provided false information, but was later identified as Lawrence Srutek, a wanted individual with an active arrest warrant from San Joaquin County.
Upon engaging with the vehicle’s occupants, law enforcement officials grew suspicious due to the passenger’s attempt to conceal his true identity. Subsequent investigation revealed that the passenger had initially provided a false name and date of birth. However, diligent efforts by the Deputy led to the successful identification of the individual as Lawrence Srutek, who was wanted by authorities in San Joaquin County.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, officers uncovered a significant cache of suspected methamphetamine packaged in multiple baggies. Additionally, a modified flare gun capable of firing .22 caliber rounds was seized, indicating potential illegal modifications to the weapon. The discovery of these illicit items prompted a range of charges against Srutek.
Law enforcement authorities promptly apprehended Srutek and transported him to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office Jail. The suspect now faces a multitude of charges, including possession of a “Zip Gun,” possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, providing false identification, possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and the existing arrest warrant from San Joaquin County.
