Man Arrested on Suspicion of Indecent Exposure at Calaveras County Park
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a man suspected of indecent exposure at a community park in late June.
According to a press release, the Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to Turner Park in San Andreas in the late morning hours of Sunday, June 25, to investigate reports of “a male engaging in indecent activities.”
Responding deputies located an individual allegedly “engaging in indecent behavior” and actively disturbing residents and parkgoers. The man, later identified as 46-year-old Jamey Maroney, reportedly became combative when approached by deputies and allegedly threatened physical harm to them.
Attempts to de-escalate the situation and take Maroney into custody without incident proved ineffective, and Maroney allegedly resisted the deputies’ attempts to place him under arrest. Eventually, deputies made the decision to use a Taser to subdue Maroney and place him under arrest without further incident.
Maroney was later booked into custody at the Calaveras County jail on suspicion of indecent exposure, threats against law enforcement officers, and resisting arrest. It was unclear at press time whether he remained in custody or had retained an attorney.
