At approximately 2:00 p.m., the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was contacted by OPD. BCSO detectives immediately began conducting an investigation. During the investigation, BCSO detectives located a 13-year-old deceased victim in a field near the intersection of 18th Street and Tehama Avenue, Oroville. The juvenile victim was identified as Amadeus Miller-Ramos.

During the investigation BCSO detectives determined the following: Four juveniles were inside the previously mentioned vehicle. While inside the vehicle, one of the juveniles was manipulating a firearm. The firearm discharged one time and a bullet struck Miller-Ramos. After Miller-Ramos was shot, the juveniles placed his body in a field near the intersection of 18th Street and Tehama Avenue.

On the afternoon of July 18, BCSO deputies arrested the juvenile who shot Miller-Ramos. The juvenile was subsequently booked at the Butte County Juvenile Hall.
