A resident of the City of Fillmore finally lost patience with the ongoing disappearance of her jewelry and cash. According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. Sgt. Will Hollowell, the female homeowner—after things kept disappearing in her home—“took proactive steps and installed a security camera” in the hope of finding out who was pilfering her treasured personal belongings.
Apparently her new home security camera setup proved to be a game-changer when 44-year-old Newhall resident Antonio Martinez “returned and entered the residence” and promptly began rummaging through the victim’s bedroom in apparent search for more booty.
Unbeknownst to Martinez, an erstwhile “trusted employee” at the victim’s home, his every move was captured by the new security camera, which silently recorded the entire incident.
Upon reviewing the footage, the homeowner promptly contacted detectives at the Santa Clara Valley Station Patrol office of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and handed over her video evidence. Detectives then obtained a search warrant for Martinez’s Newhall residence where they subsequently “located and seized additional stolen jewelry belonging to the victim.”
Martinez was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of grand theft and residential burglary. He remains in custody with his bail set at $50,000.
