Sutter County Woman Faces Murder Charge in Connection with Fatal Fentanyl Overdose
The Sutter County District Attorney’s Office has announced the identification and arrest of a primary suspect in connection with a fatal fentanyl overdose.
According to a press release by the District Attorney’s Office, authorities arrested 27-year-old Courtney Robinson of Sutter on July 19th in connection with a fentanyl-related homicide case. The arrest was a collaborative effort between the Yuba Sutter Narcotic and Gang Enforcement Task Force and the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began on July 5th, after the Yuba City Police Department responded to a report of a deceased adult male on Wilbur Avenue in Yuba City. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Jesus Chavez, was reportedly found to have died from a fatal dose of fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid. Investigators soon developed suspicion that the fentanyl had been supplied by Courtney Robinson.
In an undercover operation on July 12th, NET-5 agents contacted Robinson and arranged a meeting to purchase fentanyl on the 2500 block of Palm Street. During the encounter, authorities arrested Robinson and discovered approximately 2.4 gross grams of fentanyl in her possession.
Robinson was interviewed and later booked at the Sutter County jail on suspicion of murder and fentanyl sales. The case has since been presented to the District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
No further information is available at this time. It was unclear at press time whether Robinson had retained an attorney.
