Two men have been arrested in connection with an alleged fight and brandishing incident in Fairfield.
According to a press release by the Fairfield Police Department, officers were responding to a call regarding a fight at a home in the 2500 block of Greenfield Drive late on the night of July 24. It was reported that one person had brandished a handgun, and that two men involved had fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
A responding officer arrived at the scene and reportedly located a vehicle with two people matching the descriptions of the subjects inside. The officer pulled the vehicle over along eastbound I-80 at the bottom of the on-ramp of Airbase Parkway.
The passenger immediately exited the vehicle and, although he initially refused to follow commands, was ultimately detained. The driver was detained without incident. Officers also saw a handgun in plain view near the front passenger seat. The handgun was loaded and had a round in the chamber, police said.
The driver, 29-year-old Jason Brown of Vacaville, was arrested on suspicion of weapons-related charges, including carrying a concealed weapon. The passenger, 29-year-old Jamonte Butcher of Suisun, was taken into custody for allegedly resisting arrest.
Both suspects are now in custody and will await further legal proceedings as the investigation continues. It was unclear at press time whether either of the individuals had retained an attorney.
