Tragic Shooting Incident in Ivanhoe Leaves One Dead; Suspect Arrested

IVANHOE, CA – On Monday at approximately 5:15 p.m., the quiet community of Ivanhoe was shaken by a devastating shooting incident that claimed the life of 34-year-old Antonio Tapia, Jr. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the scene, located near Avenue 327 and Road 158, after receiving reports of the shooting. Tragically, when deputies arrived, they found Antonio Tapia, Jr. lying on the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their best efforts, they had to pronounce him deceased at the scene.
Following the grim discovery, the Homicide Unit of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office was called in to lead the investigation. With the aim of bringing justice to the victim and his family, the detectives initiated a thorough examination of the crime scene. Through their diligent efforts, the Homicide Unit identified the suspect in this heinous crime as 23-year-old Ismar Ambriz, a resident of Ivanhoe. The investigators wasted no time and swiftly took Ambriz into custody. He was subsequently booked at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility on charges of PC 187, which refers to Homicide.
