A man in his early 20s and a juvenile have both reportedly been arrested on weapon charges in Stanislaus County.

According to a press release by the Turlock Police Department, law enforcement officers responded to a report of suspicious activity on the 3000 block of Countryside Drive on August 9. The reporting party stated that individuals wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and ski masks, and appeared to be preparing to commit a robbery.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers identified a vehicle occupied by individuals matching the provided description and initiated a traffic stop. The individuals in the vehicle were identified as Elias Walker (23) of Oakland and a 17-year-old juvenile from Vallejo.

Law enforcement officers reportedly observed narcotics in plain sight within the vehicle, which they then searched. The search led to the discovery of ski masks, gloves, live ammunition, and a loaded firearm, police said.

Both Walker and the 17-year-old passenger were taken into custody and booked on charges related to possession of a loaded firearm with intent to commit a felony. The incident remains under investigation.

It was unclear at press time whether either suspect had retained an attorney. All persons arrested on suspicion of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a resonable doubt in a court of law.
