“This past Friday night, deputies responded to Secret Lake Trail in Plumas Lake reference a mental health concern. Upon arrival, the deputy quickly noticed a home (and neighboring home) on fire and radioed dispatch for Linda Fire Department to respond. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, however multiple residents were displaced. An investigation quickly led to the conclusion that 44 year-old Joshua Cassell started the fire and he was transported to the hospital for a medical clearance and mental health evaluation. Once cleared, deputies booked Cassel at the Yuba County Jail for the charges of arson, battery against emergency personnel, and obstruction of justice.”
