Police in Redding have announced the arrest of a man accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile employee of his business.

In a press release earlier this month, the Redding Police Department identified 52-year-old Jesus Ramos Maldonado as the primary suspect in an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a minor.

The victim, an employee at Maldonado’s business, alleged that Maldonado had sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions while she was working. The assaults occurred over an approximately two-month period, and ultimately led the victim to quit her job, police said.

Detectives interviewed Maldonado, who reportedly admitted the allegations were true. He also admitted to being aware that the victim was a minor, police said.

Maldonado was then arrested and booked at the Shasta County jail on charges related to lewd and lascivious acts with a child and sexual battery.

It was unclear at press time whether Maldonado had retained an attorney.
