Repeat Offender in Custody Faces Multiple Charges for a Drive-By Murder

OAKLAND — A 34-year-old man with prior arrests and convictions faces new felony charges, including second-degree drive-by murder. Amadi J. Monroe, the recidivist in custody is ineligible for release on bond, pending a plea hearing on August 30th.
Monroe, a resident of Oakland, is now housed at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. He was booked at the county lockup following his arrest on August 11th. He allegedly fatally shot Jerald Clark August 8th on the 500 block of 25th Street.
Responding officers found Clark suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Twenty charges against Monroe have been filed concerning this homicide. The suspect’s charges include possession of a firearm by a felon, and other firearm-related charges.
His problems with the law date back to when he was twice convicted as a juvenile. Monroe also has prior convictions for assault with a semiautomatic firearm in 2007 and robbing an ATM in 2008.
He also has prior arrests for assault with a firearm shooting at an inhabited vehicle in June. Prior to that he was placed under arrest for carrying a loaded concealed gun in 2017.
