“This morning, CHP dispatch received a report of a man actively stealing a moped in Santa Cruz County, near Portola Dr. As CHP officers responded to the scene, the suspect attempted to flee. The witness who observed the crime provided dispatch with an excellent description and location of the suspect.
With the help of @santacruzcountyso and @capitolapolice, they located and detained the suspect until CHP arrived. CHP arrested a 22-year-old male Gilroy resident for auto theft.
The moped was returned to its rightful owner.
