“On 7/11/23 at around 8:44 am Deputies from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible burglary in progress in the 20000 block of The Oaks Dr. The victims arrived at their home before Deputies could arrive and interrupted a male suspect lurking around their shed. When the male was confronted, he fired one round from an unknown caliber handgun toward the victims and fled the area.
The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office requested additional law enforcement agencies to assist in securing the area to locate the suspect. After an extensive area check, the suspect was located sitting on a bench in the Northbound Red Bluff rest area off Interstate 5 by a California Highway Patrol Officer. As additional units arrived on scene at the rest area, the suspect again fled on foot east towards Jellys Ferry Road.
Units, with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol Airplane were able to surround and detain the male suspect who was identified as Pedro Aguilar. Pedro Aguilar was medically cleared for heat related issues and later booked into the Tehama County Jail for the above charges.
An extensive area check was conducted but at this time the handgun used in his incident has not been recovered. We urge anyone in the area who locates a firearm to leave it in place and contact the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office at (530)529-7900. No subjects were injured during this incident.”
