Incident Involving Armed Man Leads to Arrest by Red Bluff Police

Red Bluff, CA – In a dramatic turn of events on Sunday, August 6, 2023, law enforcement authorities were alerted to a potentially dangerous situation that unfolded in the heart of Red Bluff. At approximately 1:30 PM, the Red Bluff Police Department received an urgent call reporting a male individual in possession of what appeared to be an assault rifle, engaged in suspicious activity that included breaking into a parked vehicle.
Responding swiftly to the distress call, local officers were on the scene within minutes, effectively containing the situation and preventing any potential threat from escalating. The male suspect was immediately identified as 32-year-old William Crockett.
Upon their arrival, the officers confronted Crockett, who was adorned in a distinctive vest featuring ballistic panels. A subsequent search of his person revealed a fully loaded AR-15 rifle, heightening the tension of the situation. However, the officers’ professionalism and training ensured that the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Crockett’s compliance with law enforcement directives led to his swift and uneventful arrest. The confiscation of the loaded AR-15 was executed promptly and efficiently, securing the immediate area and removing any potential danger to the public. Furthermore, a loaded 9mm pistol was discovered in Crockett’s possession during the course of the arrest.

As a result, Crockett was subsequently booked into the Tehama County Jail on an array of charges. These include possession of a large capacity magazine, carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of an assault weapon, and the additional offense of bringing contraband into a detention facility.
