Adult and Three Juveniles Arrested after Fairfield Police Pursue Stolen Vehicle

“On Sunday, September 3 at around 10:22 pm, California Highway Patrol broadcasted a BOL for a black vehicle stolen out of Oakland.
Officer Kimball subsequently observed a vehicle matching that description traveling at a high rate of speed on eastbound I-80 near Red Top Road. Officer Kimball attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not yield and a pursuit ensued.
The stolen vehicle exited the freeway onto Airbase Pkwy before returning to I-80 and traveling westbound, where officers lost visual contact with it.
A short time later, though, the vehicle was captured on a Flock camera near Lopes and Highway 80, and units converged upon the area.
As he responded, Officer J. Smith saw a group of people walking northbound on Lopes Road near Auto Plaza Court.
Meanwhile, Officer Swoyer located the vehicle, nearby and completely empty.
The group of people Officer Smith observed was detained. In their possession were multiple key fobs, a key programmer, and a loaded handgun with an extended magazine. One of the keys started the stolen vehicle.
Four people, one adult male (19-years-old) and three male youths, were all taken into custody. The adult was transported and booked into County Jail. The three youths were cited and released to their parents.
Note: “Cited and released to their parents” does not mean there were/will be no repercussions. There are often mandates/restrictions that must be met before a juvenile can be booked into Juvenile Hall.
Several things can/typically occur following the issuance of a citation to a juvenile. For example – once a juvenile is issued a citation, either the DA’s Office will file charges or, if a minor crime, the juvenile may go through the Juvenile Diversion program.”
