“On September 13, 2023 at approximately 11:00 pm, one of our Officers attempted to stop a Dodge Charger for street racing, in the area of Beach and Crescent. The driver fled and a pursuit ensued, reaching 100 mph on the 91 West.
Officers lost sight of the vehicle and cancelled the pursuit. As they were exiting the freeway to turn back to Buena Park, they encountered a male chasing his dog on an off ramp. That was weird. Then they saw an upside down Dodge Charger in the ice plant. A quick check of the plates confirmed it was the vehicle we had been pursuing. What are the odds?
Apparently, our race car driver failed to negotiate the curve in the off ramp at such high speeds. The driver was arrested for street racing and felony evading. He was taken to the hospital for the treatment of his injuries, since he was not wearing his seat belt. What was left of his vehicle was impounded.
The passenger was wearing their seatbelt and was uninjured but accompanied the driver to the hospital. Their dog was taken for safe keeping.”
