Alabama Murder and Robbery Suspect Apprehended in Carmel

On the evening of Thursday, August 31, 2023, Carmel Police Officers responded to a critical development regarding a stolen vehicle, potentially linked to a homicide case in Huntsville, Alabama earlier that week.
The stolen vehicle was traced to Willowmere Drive in Carmel, where officers swiftly converged at approximately 9:10 p.m. While at the scene, law enforcement observed an individual, later identified as Damon A. Blinks, a 28-year-old male. Blinks was seen exiting the stolen vehicle. When officers initiated a routine traffic stop, the suspect, Blinks, made the fateful decision to evade the authorities, launching a perilous pursuit that included moments of high-speed driving through the streets of Carmel.
After a tense and high-stakes chase, the suspect eventually brought the stolen vehicle to a halt on Aqueduct Way and fled on foot. However, Carmel Police Officers, determined and relentless in their pursuit, swiftly closed in on Blinks, leading to his apprehension without further incident.
Damon A. Blinks was subsequently transported to the Hamilton County Jail, where he faces a series of local charges. Additionally, he will remain in custody pending extradition to Huntsville, Alabama, where he will face a capital murder charge in connection with the earlier homicide case.
