Shooting Incident at Promenade Park Leads to Juvenile Arrests
Corona, CA – On the evening of September 14, 2023, at approximately 8:23 PM, the Corona Police Department responded to a shooting incident at Promenade Park, situated at 615 Richey Street. The report indicated an 18-year-old male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds to both legs. Promptly, officers located the injured individual at a nearby apartment complex and arranged for his immediate transport to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Responding to the incident, both Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Riverside Police Department air units sprang into action, aiding in the search for suspects. In close proximity to the park, these units located three male juveniles concealed in a field, and without resistance, the juveniles surrendered to Corona police officers. They were subsequently identified as the suspects in the shooting. Among them, a 16-year-old was arrested on charges of attempted murder and conspiracy, while the other two, aged 16 and 14, were apprehended for conspiracy. All three were taken into custody and transferred to Riverside County Juvenile Hall.
Further investigation revealed the precise location of the shooting, which occurred near the park’s tennis courts. A handgun, believed to be the weapon used in the incident, was also recovered in the vicinity. Initial assessments indicate that this incident is isolated, with no outstanding suspects.
