Two Arrested After Leading Fairfield Police on Pursuit in Stolen U-Haul
Two individuals were recently arrested after allegedly leading police and CHP on a pursuit in a stolen U-Haul truck.
According to a press release by Fairfield PD, officers were dispatched to investigate a “FLOCK hit” regarding an allegedly stolen U-Haul truck near Pittman and Suisun Valley Road just after 12:30 AM on September 16.
Officers responded to the scene and observed a woman, later identified as 42-year-old Jeannie Small, exiting the passenger side of the U-Haul. Small reportedly re-entered the vehicle upon spotting the officer, and the U-Haul drove away.
The officer attempted to pull the U-Haul over but the driver did not comply, initiating a pursuit along Eastbound I-80 that was soon joined by additional Fairfield PD officers. At a certain point, the California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit.
During the pursuit, the U-Haul reportedly crossed over spike strips before taking the Lagoon Valley exit. Both the driver and passenger then fled on foot into a fenced construction area. Responding units from CHP, Fairfield PD, and Solano Sheriff’s Office established a perimeter around the area.
The suspects ultimately surrendered and were taken into custody. Both allegedly gave false names at first, but their actual identities were confirmed by a fingerprint reader, police said.
The driver, identified as 30-year-old Savannah Johnson, turned out to be on parole, while Small was found to be on active probation. Both were later booked at the Solano County jail.
