As if being arrested and booked on multiple violent offenses wasn’t enough to subdue his criminal instincts, on September 5, 2023, 19-year-old Santa Maria resident Isaac Peinado became the subject of what Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Raquel Zick described as “an investigation into suspected contraband” inside the Northern Santa Barbara County Jail.
Peinado was going through the prisoner intake process at the facility, held on $1,000,000 bail pursuant to his arrest that same day on charges of robbery, assault with a firearm, conspiracy to commit a crime, participation in a criminal street gang, carrying a concealed weapon…with all charges enhanced by the additional charge of participation in a criminal street gang.
During their hunt for the suspected contraband conducted by Custody Deputies at the facility, Peinado was searched and found to be “in possession of over 120 suspected fentanyl pills” which were discovered in various locations “in his body.” Once that evidence was removed from his possession, Peinado was again booked on a charge of bringing a controlled substance into a custody facility.
