Redding Man Arrested on Litany of Charges Including Assault, DUI, Evading

“September 26, 2023 at 0200 Hours
RPD Case No. RPD23-034636
Assault, brandishing, terrorist threats, driving under the influence, evading officers, and driving on a suspended license.
On September 25th at 3:03 P.M. the Redding Police Department responded to 7-11 on Placer Street for multiple reports of a man pointing a handgun at another man’s head in the parking lot. Responding officers located the suspect in the Holliday Shopping Center based on victim and witness descriptions. The suspect, later identified as Phillip Brooks Jr. of Redding, fled on his motorcycle when officers tried to stop him. Officers initiated a vehicle pursuit that ended when Phillip Brooks Jr’s. motorcycle left the road way at Buenaventura Blvd. and Starlight Blvd causing him to be ejected from the bike. When officers contacted Brooks Jr., he was lying on top of a handgun later determined to be a replica firearm. Brooks Jr. had 5 outstanding arrest warrants, was heavily intoxicated while driving, and had a suspended driver license in addition to the assault, brandishing, terrorist threats and evasion.
