“On October 2, 2023, Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputy Kasch witnessed a White Honda Accord run the stop sign on Pennington Road and Township Road in Live Oak, CA. While attempting to stop the vehicle in a routine traffic stop, the vehicle in question exceeded a speed of 100 MPH causing a pursuit. California Highway Patrol was requested and took over the vehicle pursuit. Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputy Hayes was requested by CHP to join in the pursuit with on-duty K-9, Hitch. This pursuit resulted in a successful PIT Maneuver by California Highway Patrol on Hampton Road in Live Oak, CA.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the subject was advised that the Sheriff’s K-9 was present. This caused the subject to comply and surrender. The subject was identified as Hugo Diaz-Chavez of Live Oak, CA. Diaz-Chavez was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol and booked for evading and committing a felony while on bail.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank California Highway Patrol for their assistance & collaboration, resulting in a successful pursuit & arrest.”
