Driver Arrested on Drug Charges After Street Racing Incident in Watsonville

In a recent incident in Watsonville, an 18-year-old individual is now facing drug-related charges and a 30-day vehicle impound following their involvement in a street racing event. The incident unfolded when a vigilant night shift officer was patrolling the 500 block of Main Street this past Tuesday. While on duty, the officer observed two vehicles engaged in a street race.
Swiftly responding to the situation, the officer managed to intercept one of the racing vehicles and successfully pulled over its driver. Subsequent to a thorough search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers uncovered a significant quantity of marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, a substantial amount of cash, and various other cannabis-related items.
The driver, identified as 18-year-old Diego Garcia Sandoval, was taken into custody on charges related to the exhibition of speed and possession of drugs with the intent to sell. This incident underscores the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address illegal activities within the community, particularly those associated with controlled substances and dangerous driving behaviors. Sandoval’s case will proceed through the legal system as authorities work to ensure a fair and just resolution.
