“Fontana police officers spotted a white pickup truck with a utility rack in the Ross parking lot on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023, at around 10:20 a.m. The truck matched the description of a wanted burglary vehicle from the previous week. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect fled, and a chase began. It was later discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen.

During the pursuit, the suspect drove recklessly and intentionally on the wrong side of the road, putting the lives of numerous people in danger. The suspect nearly collided with a fire engine, which later responded to assist the suspect. He caused several traffic collisions before entering the 10 FWY eastbound.

The pursuit ended when the suspect left the freeway and turned onto a long roadway. As soon as the suspect slowed down, the pursuing officer used a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver on the suspect vehicle. The car went off the road and rolled onto its side at Fairway Dr and Auto Plaza Drive in the City of Colton.

The suspect, Vincent Johnny Turrey (41), was trapped inside the vehicle until firefighters and paramedics rescued him. Turrey was on PRCS (Post-release Community Supervision) out of Los Angeles County on weapons charges and had a No Bail Warrant for his arrest. A .22 caliber semiautomatic handgun and property belonging to multiple burglary victims were found in the vehicle.

Turrey was taken to a local hospital for a medical check-up before being booked at West Valley Detention Center. @fontanapd #wearehiring #joinourteam #notinourcity City of Fontana Police Department City of Fontana, CA – City Government”
