Two Juveniles Arrested on Weapon Charges Following Alleged Road Rage Shooting

“On September 16, 2023, officers responded to the area of Pioneer and East Main Street for a road rage incident, where a subject shot a firearm out of a car window. The suspect fled, then wrecked his car in the area of Lander Avenue / HW99 and fled on foot. The Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) took over the case and were able to identify the juvenile suspect, who is a known gang member. Over the course of the investigation, S.I.U. Investigators were able to obtain enough evidence to issue a search warrant for the suspect’s residence and any vehicles associated with it.
This morning during a planned operation, investigators located the juvenile, conducted a high-risk traffic stop and detained five occupants. One of the passengers in the vehicle, who is also a known juvenile gang member, was on searchable probation out of Merced County.
During the traffic stop, additional Investigators began simultaneously searching the target residence, pursuant to the search warrant. They located an unserialized firearm (AKA a “ghost gun”). S.I.U. had enough evidence to connect both juveniles to the firearm.
The juveniles were booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall for a slew of charges including; Wilfully discharging a firearm with gross negligence, Assault with a deadly weapon, Minor in possession of a handgun x2, Minor in possession of live ammunition x2, and Hit and run.
Today’s search warrant is part of an ongoing investigation and an effort to combat gang activity within our community. The Turlock Police Department Special Investigation Unit is dedicated to getting these weapons and criminals off of our streets.”
