“One Placer County man, determined to recover his stolen tools, took matters into his own hands this past weekend. Initially, the man reported that various tools had gone missing from his job site. Wanting to reclaim what was rightfully his, he took to social media in search of his stolen equipment.
He was able to identify some of his tools being offered for sale and arranged to meet with the seller. Before the meeting, he contacted the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, to inform deputies of his plan. Deputies promptly arrived at the location where the victim and the seller had arranged to meet and successfully detained the suspect. Through their investigation, it was learned that the seller had indeed stolen the victim’s tools and was attempting to resell them online.
A subsequent search of the suspect uncovered suspected cocaine and an additional search of the suspect’s vehicle unveiled approximately $10,000 in suspected stolen goods, including drills, saws, and nail guns.
The suspect, 31-year-old Brandon Bridges of Rocklin, was arrested on charges of grand theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of reaching out to law enforcement if you fall victim to theft and come across your stolen property being sold online. It is an important step in ensuring justice is served and property is recovered.”
