Fairfield Police: Single-Vehicle Crash Now Being Investigated as Homicide
Fairfield police have reportedly reclassified what was initially believed to be a fatal single-vehicle collision as a homicide investigation.
According to a press release by the Fairfield Police Department, a report was made to dispatch regarding a truck located off the road near Cement Hill, west of Peabody Road, on the morning of Friday, October 13. The vehicle appeared to have left the road during the night, colliding with several structures before coming to a stop.
Due to the truck’s location not being immediately visible from the road, it was not discovered until the following morning. The truck’s driver, a 44-year-old man from Oakland, had reportedly been ejected from the vehicle and was found deceased at the scene.
The Fairfield Police Traffic Unit, along with the Solano County Coroner’s Office, responded to the scene. While initial evidence suggested a traffic accident, a subsequent autopsy revealed the presence of a bullet in the victim’s body.
Investigators have concluded that the accident was the outcome of a shooting. The investigation into this incident is actively ongoing, and further details are being withheld to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
