CONCORD—Michael D. Reese at age 70 seems feisty and he shows no signs of slowing down. Reese, a resident of Richmond, is a longtime recidivist. He was arrested again in Concord by the Bay Area Rapid Transit Police Department.
This time Reese allegedly stabbed a man at the bus zone outside Concord Station. The victim was attacked on the morning of October 2. The man was transported to a hospital in stable condition for medical treatment.
BART officers responded to the scene shortly before rush hour. What began as an argument escalated to a violent fight. Witnesses outside the station pointed out Reese as the suspect who stabbed the victim. Reese was arrested by BART officers at 7:35 a.m.
Reese remains in custody at the Martinez Detention on a parole hold, ineligible for release on bond. Multiple charges and special allegations were filed on October 5 against Reese. His latest charges include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated mayhem. In addition, he is also charged with eleven special allegations and enhancements, because he has prior serious felony convictions.
Reese’s arrest history goes back to at least 1982. Previous incidents involved assaults, burglary, attempted murder, rape, and other offenses. More recently, Reese was locked up in August for robbery. He was arrested in February for BART fare evasion. Reese has spent more than 20 years of his life incarcerated.
