The Turlock Police Department has announced the arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile for the alleged human trafficking of another minor.
According to a press release, the Turlock Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Fresno Police Department’s VICE Unit, located and arrested a 16-year-old juvenile on a Ramey warrant for alleged human trafficking of a minor by force, pimping, and pandering.
The juvenile was arrested at the Fresno County Fair on October 15, and turned over to the custody of Turlock Police detectives shortly thereafter. The suspect was then booked at the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall.
Police say they became aware of the suspect’s alleged activities during another active investigation.
In the press release, the Turlock Police Department also listed several red flags that indicate someone may be a victim of human trafficking. These can include having more than one cellphone, large and unexplainable amounts of cash, wearing designer clothing that was not purchased by their parents, fresh but unexplained injuries, or behavioral changes such as sudden detachment from friends and family.
