SAN RAFAEL — A Home Depot employee in the accounting/finance department was placed under arrest on suspicion of embezzling $1.2 million. The suspect was arrested at work. Her vehicle and home were searched by San Rafael police detectives.
The suspect is Leticia M. McAdoo, a 42-year-old resident of Richmond. McAdoo was booked at Marin County Jail on suspicion of embezzlement by an employee and for burglary. However, she is no longer listed in custody in the county jail roster.
Home Depot reported embezzlement allegations against McAdoo to San Rafael PD on October 17. She had more than $8,000 in her possession when police responded and arrested her at the store on Shoreline Parkway. Approximately $1,500 in cash was stuffed inside her brassiere.
McAdoo allegedly doctored financial records while taking money from the store. In a prepared statement the San Rafael Police Department said. “Home Depot’s internal investigation into the embezzlement determined the suspect had been taking cash from the business since August 2022. The suspect admitted taking cash from Home Depot.”
Detectives later found a “small amount of cash” when they searched her residence. They also found expensive designer-brand apparel, which McAdoo allegedly purchased using embezzled money.
McAdoo is accused of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars during a period of 15 months. She allegedly embezzled the largest amount, more than $170,000 in cash during the month of August.
