Mill Valley — Derrell Bland, a 33-year-old unemployed man who lives in Mill Valley, has been arrested 36 times since 2013. His most recent arrest involves masturbation in front of girls at Mill Valley Middle School.
Mill Valley PD arrested Bland after he was detained in nearby Tiburon for an unrelated matter on Halloween. He was booked into Marin County Jail on open charges for –
- Felony indecent exposure within an inhabited building PC 314(1)
- False imprisonment with violence PC 236
- Soliciting a lewd act – disorderly conduct PC 647
- Annoy/molest a child under 18 within an inhabited building PC 647.6(A) Loitering within a public bathroom to engage in any lewd or lascivious act PC 647(D)
The suspect allegedly entered a girls restroom at the school on Sycamore Avenue on October 30. He conversed with the girls present, exposed himself, and proceeded to masturbate in front of them.
In a prepared statement the Mill Valley Police Department said. “The suspect attempted to block the door behind himself, causing the victims to feel imprisoned.”
Bond to release Bland from custody was set at $25,000. He is frequently in and out of jail. So far this year, Bland has been arrested 14 times for offenses including battery, burglary, and public intoxication.
In 2022, he was arrested five times for offenses including burglary and exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm. Prior to this he has arrests on his record involving assault, battery, stalking and rape.
