This morning around 1:30 am, a patrol deputy witnessed a 2011 Black Honda run a red light at the intersection of Highway 99 and Franklin Road in Yuba City, CA. The vehicle then proceeded to swerve from side to side and was unable to remain within its lane. Upon conducting the traffic stop, the subject was contacted and identified as 32-year-old Joel Tinoco of Yuba City. While the original deputy was conducting a Field Sobriety Test, a Sergeant came to assist and noticed a handgun located in the back pocket of the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Tinoco was determined to be a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. The gun was deemed an unregistered and non-serialized gun or “ghost gun”. Tinoco was arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail for numerous charges: driving under the influence, blood alcohol level of .08 or above, felon in possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition.
