Calaveras County Man Arrested for Alleged DUI After Deputies Find Him Passed Out in Car
A Calaveras County man was recently arrested after deputies allegedly found him passed out in his vehicle.
According to a press release, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extra patrol on Red Hill Road near the transfer station in the very early hours of November 18. Deputies reportedly discovered the occupant of a vehicle, identified as 42-year-old Kyle Hicks of Vallecito, slumped over the steering wheel.
The deputy awakened Hicks and noted strong indications of intoxication, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The officer then notified the California Highway Patrol and a second officer responded to the location. At this point, law enforcement was suspicious that Hicks had been driving under the influence.
An inventory search of the vehicle reportedly turned up approximately 150 pills suspected to be a mix of fentanyl and oxycodone and about 30 grams of suspected heroin.
Hicks was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of narcotics for sale, and possession of controlled substances.
