As the shadow of Death continues to spread across so many communities, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Units (VC FOCUS) are working overtime as they collaborate with multiple regional law enforcement agencies to stem the tide of illicit drugs washing through their jurisdiction.
Evidence of these efforts surfaced once again in the pre-dawn hours of November 9th with the arrest of 41-year-old Albert Edklund, a resident of Los Angeles County. According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. John Hajducko, VC FOCUS detectives identified Eklund as a suspected purveyor of an array of controlled substances and narcotics, using his residence as his point-of-sale to buyers throughout Ventura County.
Pursuant to “surveillance operations,” detectives obtained and served a search warrant on Eklund’s residence and promptly discovered “a loaded handgun, 82 grams of fentanyl, 137 grams of methamphetamine, 35 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of heroin, 1500 amphetamine pills, 70 counterfeit fentanyl pills, PCP lace cigarettes,” and a wide assortment of other pharmaceuticals.
Eklund was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on a raft of charges including possession for sales of a controlled substance, possession for sales of a dangerous drug, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, with his bail set at $100,000.
