TIBURON — A man with multiple prior arrests has been arrested for possession of controlled substances and released from custody again. This time 29-year-old Artem N. Hanawalt from Sacramento County was apprehended at Cove Shopping Center for fentanyl possession.
Hanawalt, a DoorDash driver from Fair Oaks, was detained by Tiburon police responding to a shoplifting incident. No stranger to law enforcement procedures, Hanawalt was searched at Nugget Markets on Blackfield Drive on November 25.
In a prepared statement the Tiburon Police Department said. “Officers located 7.6 grams of fentanyl on the suspect and recovered stolen merchandise.”
Hanawalt was placed under arrest and booked into Marin County Jail on November 25 at 6:10 p.m. He was booked for grand theft and possession of a controlled narcotic substance. Bond for Hanawalt was subsequently set at $10,000, and he is no longer in custody at the county lockup.
Hanawalt has cycled in and out of jail six times so far this year. He was arrested in Contra Costa, San Mateo and Alameda counties. Hanawalt has previous arrests in October for conspiracy to commit crime and shoplifting not exceeding $950. In September, Hanawalt was arrested for possession of a narcotic controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Oakland police arrested Hanawalt in June for organized retail theft and driving while under combined influence of drugs and alcohol. Plus, he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
