In a town the size of Fillmore—with a population of just over 16,000 souls—living the life of a professional miscreant who routinely shows up on the local constabulary’s arrest blotter makes the prospect of social anonymity something of a challenge.
That may be the reason why 30-year-old Fillmore resident Oscar Ramos was fairly easy for the cops to locate and arrest on the afternoon of November 14th .
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Fillmore Division Watch Commander, that same morning, Ramos had been released from custody at Ventura County Jail following his earlier arrest for “being under the influence of a controlled substance, elder abuse, battery, vandalism, carrying a dirk or dagger, public intoxication, disturbing the peace, violation of a court order, criminal threats, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.”
Just a few hours after his release from custody on those charges, a 911 Emergency call from a local resident—who was not in the home at the time of the call—reported “a suspect had entered their home.”
Responding deputies arrived and attempted to make contact with Ramos who was somewhat reluctant to cooperate with their suggestions that he not resist them in any way. As those things generally go, however, following 20 minutes of confrontation, Ramos was subdued and taken into custody. He was then taken back to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of burglary and resisting or obstructing police officers.”
