Proving once again that having children can be either God’s greatest blessing or a living nightmare for parents, 21-year-old Thousand Oaks resident Scott Goldberg stands charged with the attempted murder of his parents following his arrest late on the night of November 19th .
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Albert Ramirez, it was just an hour before midnight when a 911 Emergency call reporting “a battery” brought deputies to a Mayfield Court residential address to investigate. Upon arrival at the home, the cops found “two victims of an assault,” one of whom was suffering from “significant and life-threatening injuries.”
As both victims, a 64-year-old male and a 63-year-old female, were transported to a local area hospital for “advanced medical treatment,” detectives attached to the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Thousand Oaks Investigations Bureau went into action. It didn’t take them long to determine that young Mr. Goldberg had attacked the two victims—his parents—with a hammer.
With a weapon now in hand, detectives took Goldberg into custody and transported him to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempted murder. He remains in custody, with his bail set at $510,000.
