Anthony Isaiah Crudo, a 33-year-old resident of Sonora, was taken into custody yesterday afternoon on charges of felony threats, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm, and possessing a firearm with removed serial numbers.
The Sonora Police Department responded to a call just after 1:35 pm on November 9th, reporting that Crudo, leaving the vicinity of Adventist Health Hospital, had allegedly made a threat to commit a shooting at the courthouse. Promptly, the Sonora Police Department notified the Tuolumne County Superior Court, leading to an immediate lockdown of the courthouse.
Officers initiated a search of the courthouse area and the 600 block of Mono Way, where Crudo was known to reside. Crudo was spotted near his residence on Mono Way, and despite an initial attempt to flee, officers surrounded and apprehended him without incident. A subsequent search of his person revealed a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol concealed in his waistband.
A search warrant was executed at Crudo’s residence shortly after his arrest, aiming to recover additional firearms. However, only a small quantity of ammunition was found during the search. Crudo was subsequently booked at the Tuolumne County Jail, with an enhanced bail set at $250,000.
The charges against Crudo include felony threats and firearm-related offenses. Authorities stress that individuals mentioned in the arrest report are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
