Authorities in Los Angeles have announced the arrest of a man suspected of killing three homeless people. The suspect has also been connected to a fourth murder.
In a press release, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified 33-year-old Jerrid Joseph Powell as the primary suspect in connection with the killings, all of which occurred in late November.
By the time he was identified as the suspect, Powell was already in custody for the alleged robbery and murder of a fourth victim, identified as Nicholas Simbolon, in San Dimas. Investigators reportedly believe that Powell had followed Simbolon home in the same vehicle later identified as a suspect vehicle in the other murders, a charcoal-colored 2024 BMW sedan.
The other victims have been identified as Jose Bolanoes, 37 and Mark Diggs, 62. The remaining victim was described as a 52-year-old man who has yet to be positively identified.
Powell remains in custody on $2 million bail. It was unclear at press time whether he had retained an attorney.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information relevant to Powell, or the investigation into the San Dimas murder, to contact the department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
