“On Wednesday, November 29th, at approximately 8:03 p.m., the Chula Vista Police Department received a call of a stabbing at a residence in the 1500 Block of Yanonali Avenue in Chula Vista. Officers responded immediately and arrived within minutes.
Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle leaving the house and attempted to stop it. A pursuit was
initiated when the driver refused to stop. Other officers on scene entered the home and found a 69-
year-old female with multiple stab wounds. They attempted life saving measures until medics arrived
and transported her to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The woman’s 42-yearold daughter was found in the home with cuts to her arm. She was transported to a hospital for treatment
but was in stable condition.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle led officers on an approximately 25-minute pursuit which ended when
he collided into a divider on the I-805 northbound at the I-8 interchange in San Diego. Observations by
the officers indicate the collision appeared to be intentional. When officers approached the vehicle, they
found the suspect seriously injured and attempted life saving measures. The driver was transported to
a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He was a 41-year-old male and identified as the
suspect in the stabbing.
Investigators were at both scenes until early this morning. Initial indications are that the driver of the
vehicle was married to the 42-year-old female and lived with her at the home on Yanonali Avenue.
What led to him stabbing his mother-in-law and injuring his wife is still being investigated by detectives.
The identities of the involved parties are being withheld at this time.
Witnesses or anyone with information as to what might have led to this occurring is asked to contact
San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or submit a tip via P3tips (online or mobile
application) if they wish to remain anonymous”
