BEN LOMOND, CA – In a collaborative effort involving law enforcement agencies from across multiple counties, a wanted suspect, identified as 48-year-old Ryan Palasik, was successfully apprehended after a pursuit that traversed several jurisdictions.
The incident unfolded when a vigilant deputy on Highway 9 in Ben Lomond recognized Palasik, who was wanted for various warrants, including the assault of a Los Gatos police officer. Upon attempting to initiate a traffic stop, Palasik chose to evade law enforcement, even colliding with at least one vehicle in the process. A brief pursuit ensued, but deputies decided to terminate it for safety reasons.
Subsequently, a ‘be on the lookout’ alert was issued to neighboring agencies, and law enforcement agencies coordinated their efforts. The suspect’s vehicle was later spotted in the area of Felker Street near Ocean Street, leading to a joint operation involving deputies, the Santa Cruz Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol.
After an extensive search lasting several hours, Palasik was located and taken into custody without further incident. He now faces charges related to his warrants, as well as new charges, including felony evading, felony hit and run, resisting arrest, and possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.
Authorities expressed their gratitude to all involved agencies and dispatchers for their dedication and support during the operation.
