Violent Confrontation Erupts at Hemet High School Campus After Dating Dispute

“Hemet, Calif. — On Thursday, December 14, 2023, at approximately 4:53 pm, the Hemet Police Department responded to an assault on the Tahquitz High School campus located at 4425 Titan Trail in Hemet. The caller reported three men were seen arguing, and one of the men was allegedly armed with a knife. This incident occurred on the high school campus, however, outside of regular school hours and well after students had been dismissed. No students or faculty were involved in this incident.

When officers arrived, they learned the victim was on campus to attend a water polo match with his family when he was assaulted. The two alleged assailants were identified as 18-year-old Anthony Callier and 31-year-old Jesse Hernandez, Jr., residents of San Jacinto, California. The victim, a 50-year-old Hemet man, received a laceration to the side of his neck and is expected to make a full recovery.

An argument started between Callier and the victim and was centered around a past dating relationship between Callier and the victim’s daughter. The argument escalated when Callier allegedly assaulted the victim with a knife. Callier and Hernandez fled the scene but were apprehended by Hemet Police officers. Both men were arrested following an in-depth investigation and taken to a Riverside County Jail. Callier is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a deadly weapon, and Hernandez is charged with brandishing a deadly weapon. Callier is being held on $25,000 bail, and Hernandez’s bail was set at $10,000.”
