Sutter County Man Arrested on Several Charges During Home Invasion Call

On the morning of 12/11/2023, at approximately 6:27am, Sutter County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to Coon Creek Gun Club in Rio Oso regarding a home invasion. At the time Sutter County Deputies arrived on scene, Placer County Sheriff’s Office was already present, and the incident was ultimately turned over to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office. Victims reported that there were several suspects on the property looking for money. During the invasion, one victim was hit in the head with a pistol and was transported to Sutter North Roseville. Another victim was zip tied to the bed frame but unharmed.
As the investigation has developed, we have been able to identify one of the suspects involved as Nelson, Joshua Jefferey. On 12/19/23, the Detectives Division served an arrest warrant on Nelson in Rio Linda as well as a search warrant for his residence. Nelson was taken into custody and booked for numerous charges, to include 182(a)(2) PC, 212.5(a) PC, 237(a) PC, 243(d) PC, 245(b) PC, 459 PC, 11378 H&S, 29800(a)(1) PC, and 30305(a)(1) PC. The investigation is still ongoing as we are working leads to identify the other subjects involved.
