“On November 20, 2018, Anaheim Patrol Officers responded to a residence on the 1200 block of N. Siesta St. regarding a stabbing that just occurred. Officers arrived on scene and detained the suspect, Michael Hallgren, who was covered in blood. Officers entered the residence and located the victim, Lucinda Palma, deceased inside. The investigation revealed Hallgren fatally stabbed Ms. Palma with a butcher knife. Hallgren was arrested and was transported to the Anaheim Police Department.
Sergeant Gell, then a Detective, was assigned as the lead investigator. During an interview, Hallgren admitted to killing the 70-year-old victim.
On November 26, 2018, Hallgren was arraigned on one count of PC 187(a) Murder and remained in custody until his jury trial began on November 29, 2023. On December 20, 2023, the Jury found Hallgren guilty of 2nd-Degree Murder. He’s expected to be sentenced in the near future.”
