“On 12/28/23 at approximately 1124 hours, deputies were dispatched to a disturbance near Interstate 8 and Holdridge Rd. Upon arriving on scene Deputies contacted a male subject, who advised he had been assaulted by his brother. The reporting party was bleeding from his hand. Deputies contacted the second male subject, who was at his campsite and appeared to be living out of his vehicle.
Upon Interviewing the second male subject he was detained for the violation of brandishing an axe and criminal threats that had occurred the incident with his brother. Deputies observed ammunition boxes while interviewing the male subject and believed the male subject was under the influence of a controlled substance. Deputies asked the male subject if he had any firearms which he initially denied.
Deputies conducted a safety sweep of the camp and located two loaded firearms (Glock 20 Gen 5 and a Sig Saurer p365) with 6 hig h-capacity magazines, and a black container that had a bindle (3 Grams) of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine glass pipe. The firearms, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia were located in various locations hidden between brush and trees. Inside the male subjects vehicle, multiple cases of ammunition were located.
After a second interview with the first male subject, he stated his brother should not own firearms and was scared for his safety after he had threatened to shoot him while holding his Sig P365 pistol. The male subject was arrested and booked into the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office with the following violations:
Felony (6) counts 32310(a) PC Large Capacity Magazines
Felony (2) counts 25850(a) PC Carry Loaded Firearm in Public
Felony (2) counts 417 PC Brandishing a Weapon
Felony (1) count 422a PC Criminal Threats
Misdemeanor (1) count 11364a H&S Drug Paraphernalia
Misdemeanor (1) count 11377a H&S Possession of Controlled Substance
Misdemeanor (1) count 17500 PC Possession Deadly Weapon W/ Intent to Commit Harm”
